From a drummer's perspective
The Municipal Auditorium in Shreveport is a historic, storied venue! Elvis, Hank Williams, and many other famous performers have graced its stage numerous times. I used to play in BOOT, the loudest band in the history of time, but Fiesta Navidad was too loud for the room! As an aging rocker, I found the show to be professional, well paced, and interspersed with stories of their road experiences. The room was only 40% full, which didn't help the loudness. Some innovative songs were played, and the musicians surrounding the performer were top-notch! Reese Winans, the keyboardist, is not only excellent but also fun to watch. The bassist embodied coolness. He incorporated a Theramin, known for its role in the Beach Boys' "Good Vibrations" (and several horror flicks); however, I'm not a fan of long guitar solos with irritating effects and feedback at a volume level that obscures the technical nuances of the expertise on display. Maybe next time, a nice, tasteful drum solo could be added.
